There are tons of frozen food brands out there and honestly, I never really looked into them too much.
Isn’t it all about freshly prepared food? But I love trying new things and thanks to Healthy Choice I was able to test their Healthy Choice Morning and Vegetarian Power Bowls, which completely changed my point of view when it comes to frozen food choices.
Sometimes when life gets stressful it is super hard to stick to a healthy diet. When frozen food can be healthy, this could be the ideal option to avoid fast food, or unhealthy snacks at the office, right?
Frozen Food from Healthy Choice
Founded in 1989 Healthy Choice offers healthy frozen food that they claim as just “delicious as fresh food” and it is “also absolutely easy to prepare”. I was able to try a few of their products and have to admit, they don’t make these things up here. The food tastes really good and preparing it was super simple too.
When you’re on the go and don’t have any time to cook, Healthy Choice has the perfect protein breakfast for you like a tasty breakfast bowl. There are also a lot of lunch and dinner options as well.
But is it good for you to eat frozen food while being on a healthy diet? Absolutely! Healthy Choice offers nutrient- dense meals with quick, flavorful, well-balanced ingredients. You won’t miss any proteins, grains or leafy greens. Their morning power bowls for breakfast and vegan or vegetarian options for lunch/dinner have it all.
Frozen food: Healthy breakfast
I can’t start the day without a good breakfast. It’s my favorite meal of the day. The Healthy Choice Roasted Red Pepper & Egg White Shakshuka comes with egg whites with red bell peppers, feta cheese, onions, and plenty of leafy greens.
Also there’s whole grains like buckwheat, farro, and steel cut oats in the bowls that offers a nutrient-dense base. This was one of the meals that I got to try and it is the perfect breakfast to start the day just right. It’s cooked with steam, so you can really taste the freshness. Pretty amazing for frozen food.
The Healthy Choice morning bowls have 10-15 grams of protein and 3-5 grams of fiber which is a great amount for your healthy breakfast.
Frozen Power Bowls for lunch?
On the Healthy Choice website, you’ll find plenty of options when it comes to frozen healthy food bowls. I really loved the Falafel & Tahini – falafel with red onions, tomatoes, chard, kale and spinach served on top of brown & red rice, red quinoa and black barley with a sesame tahini sauce.
It is plant-based (vegan) and my new favorite lunch when things get stressful and there’s no time to cook. Mediterranean cuisine is one of my favorites anyways and the whole grains and leafy greens, like red quinoa, black barley and kale just give this veggie bowl the perfect taste. Here is the link to both of my Power Bowls for you to check it out as well.
Is frozen food unhealthy?
Just the fact that the food is frozen doesn’t make the food unhealthy. It only depends on the nutritional content of the food before it gets into the freezer. Healthy Choices is a great example that frozen food doesn’t have to be bad for you, or is even unhealthy.
Healthy Choice is doing a great job in providing healthy options to make your life easier. Sometimes I get home really late. All I want is my bed then and not think about the food I will eat tomorrow. I don’t want to stand in the kitchen late and prepare my meals for the next day at this hour of the day.
Knowing I have Healthy Choice at home that I can just take with me to work the next day really fits my lifestyle. It reliefs a lot of stress when work gets busy and time is short.
This helps me to avoid bad food choices. The nutrients are healthy, well balanced and freshly made even though they were frozen. Find out more about Healthy Choices, pricing and their Power Bowls here.
